Friday Flings 2011 May 13th, 2011
It’s here again! I traipsed downtown to the Friday Fling under the pavilions today…and enjoyed the sun! The weather was perfect and there were lots of people. The Palmer High Jazz Choir performed a few selections as well as the local ConFusion Jazz Combo.
Returning vendors like Tundra Comics and local gardens/nurseries attracted many browsers. Newer businesses like Moose Bites Personal Chefs and other local artists also caught many eyes.
Most people were just out to soak up the sun and see what Palmer businesses had to offer. Downtown is bustling with tourists, cyclists and families out for walks. I was able to catch up with many people I knew from high school, families from my church and even an old neighbor. I love this community!
Friday Flings will run through August 19th, every friday from 11am to 6pm.
Valley Happenings this Weekend and Next! February 11th, 2011
Hey folks! Here are some things going on this weekend and next. Not all of these events listed below are in Palmer, but they all look to be enjoyable! If you know of anything else going on this month that’s open to the whole community, comment and I’ll try to post it!
Want to know my source? Vagabond Blues! The bulletin board outside Vagabond Blues in downtown Palmer always has posters and announcements about local happenings. Check it out and grab a tasty treat or beverage while you’re at it!

The 32nd Potato Bowl September 25th, 2010
The Potato Bowl has been one of the most look-forward-to games of every football season for Palmer and Wasilla…for the last 32 years.
I dropped by today to see Palmer win again Wasilla (third year in a row) with a score of 26 – 12. Palmer has won 23 of the last 32 Potato Bowls.
The weather was beautiful! Clear skies and light breezes throughout the afternoon. Though the game was rescheduled last night because of dangerously strong winds, but the stands were filled today with spectators of all ages: player’s younger siblings to oldtime Palmeranians. Not only were cars bedecked in blue and white paint, so were school windows and student’s bodies.
Just another day in the life of a Palmeranian! Click here for a link to the Frontiersman with more info about today’s game.
