Garden and Art Wine Walk June 22nd, 2016

minersminers gameThere’s a lot going on around Palmer this week! If you haven’t had a chance to catch a Mat-Su Miners Baseball game, your chance is tomorrow night, Thursday, June 23. Game starts at 7 pm, take your family out for some fun, sunshine and food while watching our local team play some great baseball. Also, don’t miss Military Appreciation Night with the Mat-Su Miners this Friday, June 24th at 7 pm. Bring your kids and family and enjoy this beautiful weather, grab some dinner and watch some great baseball.

July 8th, the Palmer Museum of History & Art will be hosting the Midsummer Garden & Art Wine Walk in downtown Palmer. Another fun event coming up is the Palmer Midsummer Garden & Art Fair Rhubarb Rumble, July 9, 2016 in downtown Palmer. wine walkThey will have lots of vendors, food and fun things to purchase. Come celebrate gardening, art and music in beautiful downtown Palmer, Alaska, during the one day festival the Palmer Midsummer Garden and Art Faire, PMGAF. This year’s PMGAF will be held on Saturday, July 9th, beginning at 10:00AM through 6:00PM (with our last musical performer ending at 8:00PM) . The PMGAF includes a variety of garden and art vendors from all over Alaska, FREE art, gardening and cooking workshops hosted by local artists, gardening professionals and chefs, live music all day on two outdoor stages and in one Cultural Events tent, the Rhubarb Rumble (a rhubarb recipe contest among our local restaurants and caterers where you are the tasting judges!) and introducing this year’s Topihairy Challenge (a garden-inspired hair style competition among Palmer’s local salons also judged by you!). Who Let the Girls Out v.4.0 April 21st, 2014

It’s that time again! Spring is arriving quickly and we’re all ready to get out and enjoy it! Who Let the Girls Out (WLTGO) is this weekend! Loads of contests, special guests, activities and more for women of all ages. There will even be a “mobile mammography” truck!

Highlights of WLTGO include:
Friday:

  • Women’s 5k Fun Run/Walk on Friday, 6:30pm – late registration/bib pickup
    at the Eagle Hotel, 4-6pm
  • Cantora Arctica Spring Concert at St. John’s Lutheran Church after the 5k
  • Learn how to make delicious rolls and pizza at NonEssentials after the 5k
  • Saturday:

  • Flea Market on Wheels starting at 8am on S Alaska St.
  • Professional Women’s Clothing Exchange at the Palmer Moose Lodge, 11-5
  • Mobile Mammography by Providence Imaging – must call to schedule an appointment before April 25th. (907)212-3151
  • Purse Auction to benefit MyHouse at The Palmer Bar, 7pm.
  • Seed Exchange at Palmer Museum of History 11-1pm, plus a visiting agronomist to answer questions about gardening and invasive species

  • Oula – Exciting and Easy dance exercise with Annie Prevost – at Midnight Sun Yoga Center, 1pm.

    We will be handing out hot chocolate for the kiddies and coffee for the adults in front of our office on Alaska street so stop by and say hi!

    Friday Flings are my Favorite!


    Friday Flings run from May 24-August 30th, 10am – 6pm

    Our favorite Friday activity is back… Friday Flings! Come to downtown Palmer any Friday, May 24 – August 30th, and join in the fun!

    This year’s vendors will include Krazy Kidlets, The Alaska Life, Cafe Beignet, Foxfire Emporium, Tasa’s Thai Kitchen, LuLu’s Garden and the Flipside Cafe.

    Friday Flings are made up of a mixture of local artists, craftsmen, gardeners, chefs, and small businesses. Not only are they a fun tourist attraction… you’re always sure to see someone you know, and meet someone new! Support local businesses and artisans, and bring your family to the Friday Fling!

    Hey Ladies! I wanted to remind you about an annual event coming up the end of this month!

    3rd Annual “Who Let the Girls Out?”
    in downtown Palmer on April 26 and 27!

    Over 25 Palmer businesses are involved in creating a fun-filled weekend for women of all ages. Here are just a few things to look forward to:

    WILD AND SCENIC FILM FESTIVAL
    April 25th and 26th, Envision Mat Su will host a film festival at the Palmer Depot from 6-10pm, $15 admission.

    5K Timed Run/Untimed Walk
    Valley Women’s Running Team hosting a run/walk Friday (26th) at 6:30pm. $25.00 for early entry, $30.00 the day of the race.

    Palmer Spring Classic
    Backcountry Bike and Ski hosting an annual Randonnee Style Ride (50, 100 or 200K) In Randonnees, riders can ride alone or with a group. They must complete the pre-designated course in the amount of time allotted and are expected to be self-sufficient between check points. Cost of entry is $25.00. Check in time is 7:30 with the ride starting at 9 am. Registration will take place the morning of the event, and folks will gather at Vagabond Blues.
