2010 Palmer Friday Fling Begins May 14th, 2010

Tundra Comics at the Palmer Fling

Tundra Comics at the Palmer Fling

Today was the start of the Friday Fling. It was a little chilly and breezy and that tended to hurt attendance. But, Zach Lanphier was hard at work selling Tundra Comics. This is a great comic book, I like to steal my sons Tundra books and chuckle at the crazy humor. Zach appears to be a good rep for Tundra Comics.

People were packing up when I arrived at about 3PM. The wind was a little tough on the tents. But still, there was plenty of Made in Alaska on hand. Every thing from wood carvings, to fresh bread, to fresh vegetables.

I ran into Steve Carrington there…he was recently hired by the city of Palmer. Apparently he has two jobs at the city, Librarian and Director of Community Services. He had his community service hat on at the Palmer Fling and informed me that the brand new restroom facilities are open and almost finished behind the Palmer Visitors Center. I’m sure the summer bus tourists will welcome that. Speaking of buses, apparently there have already been some early season buses full of tourists check out the city of Palmer.

Local Talent at PHS April 24th, 2010

Categories: Palmer People

Friday night came quickly and I found myself once again at Vagabond Blues. The Youth Alive Club from Palmer High School put on a marvelous show! Several music students from Palmer High School performed and an International Baccalaureate art student brought a year’s worth of art work to sell in silent auction style.

All proceeds from the show went to benefit the Mat-Su school district’s Families in Transition program. To find out more about this program, go to the Mat-Su school district’s website.
