Amber Lanphier of Studio Ardent October 18th, 2013
When I think of professional photographers I think stuffy and formal.I recently had my mind changed for me by an amazing photographer. Amber Lanphier of Studio Ardent has impressed me with her personal, easygoing style. She has an amazing ability to capture her clients in their natural environment.
I was not pleased with my children’s school yearbook photos, so I hired Amber. I was hoping she could capture my kids at their best. She let them be themselves and only required that they be happy. The photo shoot was a success. As the owner of her own studio she runs things the way she wants. No cookie-cutter photos from this gal. She has many trade secrets that bring out the best in her clients. We won’t divulge them here, but if you want someone who thinks outside-the-box to immortalize the unique “you”, she is the one!
What a great weekend to tell you about Amber Lanphier. She is having a grand opening at her new studio Saturday 7-9pm and a Christmas Card Mini Special Sunday, book your spot today! www.Studioardent.com www.facebook.com/StudioArdent or Call 907-315-5044
Paradise Tanning October 16th, 2013
I love this time of year for all its changes. New fall colors of yellow and orange replace the beautiful summer green with a topping of crisp white snow on Pioneer Peak. One thing I don’t like about winter is the lack of sun. I’m a sun junky, getting my fix in a tanning bed gets me through the winter.I recently discovered, in down town Palmer, the perfect place to get my tan on. “Paradise Tanning” .
What I found interesting were the options the solon offers. I can lay down and relax, I can stand up for max coverage, I also have the option of a stand up spray tan if I’m looking for color in a hurry. Not only do I have all those choices, I can also pick a level of intensity for each.
When I spoke to the owner, Tarrah Wuestenberg, she mentioned some of the reasons her client visit her shop, and was surprised to discover that it is not all about skin color. It is also about warming joints and bodies after being subjected to the cold for so long. Paradise Tanning also offers Red Light Therapy, a treatment promoting healthy skin.
To book your own appointment under the “sun” call 907-745-8268, or just drop in at 550 S Alaska Street, in Palmer.

Humdingers Pizza October 9th, 2013
This year, I discovered Humdingers Pizza on the corner of E Blueberry and S Valley Way in downtown Palmer. My family has eaten here 5 times in the last few months and has always walked away satisfied. The atmosphere is quiet (we’re usually the loudest ones there) and artsy. The eating area is decorated in a modern warehouse style, with cement slab tables and rust colored walls.
Local artists’ work is displayed around the open room.Humdingers Pizza offers a wide selection of gourmet pizzas for both meat lovers and vegetarians… and everyone in between. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. One of my favorite pizzas is the ‘Hang Ten’, which is topped with coconut and pineapple. Hang Ten is rather “spicy”.
Check out their wood fired Pizza Oven. That huge oven can get up to 1,200 degrees according to Gordon Fletcher, the owner. Just call 745-PIZZA or go to Humdingerspizza for some of the best food in town.
