Winter in Palmer – 2012 December 17th, 2012

Categories: Around Palmer, Seasons

I love winter in Palmer… even at -15&#176.
Every little shop is playing Christmas music, the street lamps are decked with bell and star lights and even the Train Depot has Christmas lights around the perimeter.

Local businesses have great holiday deals and people are excited for Christmas vacation. My college friends are back in town and families are reuniting.

We finally have snow! After no snow all the way into December… we wondered if there would be a white Christmas at all! But the first couple weeks of December finally gave up a minimum of 8 inches. It looks much better than heavy frost on the trees.

Children are trying out the fresh sledding hills in Hatcher Pass and friends are playing weekly broom ball on Kepler Lake. Despite sub-zero temps, everyone is out and about in a hurry to finish holiday shopping and get home to families.

Merry Christmas, Palmer!
