Events of Colony Christmas 2011 December 8th, 2011
Today I visited the “Light Up A Life” Hospice Tree in the Koslosky Center to see what it’s all about. Valley Hospice Resources is working to build support for compassionate end of life care and have a hospice house in the Mat-Su Valley. To support their effort, come donate by purchasing an angel or star to remember a loved one.
The tree will be available in the Koslosky center through the weekend from 10am until 6pm (7pm on Saturday). You are also invited to attend the Gathering of Remembrance at the Palmer Train Depot January 8th when all the names will be read.

COLONY CHRISTMAS 2011 December 2nd, 2011
It has been a while since we updated, and we’re sorry about that, but this news is well worth paying attention to!
COLONY CHRISTMAS 2011!
Whew, it’s finally here! We’ve been getting plenty more snow to deck the rooftops and trees, as well as our front yards around town. But on top this powdery delight, businesses around town have decorated their store fronts in Christmas lights and other decorations.
To kick off the Colony Christmas celebrations, Light Up Palmer begins on Sunday, December 4th, at 4pm. That is THIS SUNDAY!
According to the Greater Palmer Chamber of Commerce, wagon rides, caroling and other activities will also take place!
AND I heard rumors of fireworks at 5:50pm! You don’t wanna miss that!
The majority of Colony Christmas events will center around next weekend, December 9-11. For a full schedule of the events, vist the Palmer Chamber page.
Some of my favorite Colony Christmas events include the following:

Alaska Avalanche, Palmer’s Own Hockey Team October 26th, 2011
Palmer has a hockey team! The Alaska Avalanche. They play at the MTA Events center in Palmer. This is the ice rink at 5060 Dunbar just behind the Palmer Junior Middle School. They played Wenatchee Wild tonight. I left before the game was over so I don’t know who wonA member of the North American Hockey League, they play in the west division. Among other teams, the Fairbanks Ice Dogs and Kenai Brown Bears are also in their division.
I’m not much of a hockey nut personally, but there obviously are plenty of them here…the parking lot was full tonight at the game. Check them out on Facebook.
Palmer Business Networking September 8th, 2011
I attended my first Business Networking International, (BNI), meeting today at Turkey Red. I enjoyed meeting people with other Palmer businesses. As much as possible I like to give my business to local people, and you should too.
Here are a few of the businesses I was introduced to today:
Richard Gildersleeve with Top of the World Mechanical, a heating contracting company in Palmer. 746-6367
MC Coatings, commercial and residential coatings professionals.
TCM Restoration and Cleaning a restoration company for fire and water damage.
Blue Mountains Wellness Studio in Palmer, a Yoga studio.
Nicole Bendle and Dave Eller from First National Bank Alaska
and there were others…but I didn’t get their cards.
If you are looking for someone in these fields…here is your contact.
Alaska Agriculture Appreciation Day – Palmer AK! August 11th, 2011
I found out about the Alaska Agriculture Appreciation Day down at the UAF experimental farms last minute… but was still able to stop by and snap some photos!
Enjoy! (click on the photos for a larger view)
