Arctic Chiropractic: Life is Better When You are Pain Free!! February 7th, 2011
Arctic Chiropractic has been serving the valley for three years and their future looks bright. They are located in the same building as Peak Fitness, on the corner of Palmer-Wasilla Hwy and Hemmer Road.
I (Amber) am a patient there and am more pleased with the results and progress then ever before. I have spent thousands of dollars for just a quick crack of the spine at other chiropractors in the past. I feel fortunate to have found such a wonderful outfit that takes care of my needs, with an affordable price! I can tell now when I’m not aligned because my spine feels like grinding gears. But after an adjustment at Arctic Chiropractic, there is so much relief that I even breath better!
You will find treatment at Arctic Chiropractic is everything but the “fast food” experience.
In two months I have seen huge progress in range of motion and muscle stability along with physical capabilities improving. Dr. Dwayne Engelbrecht is a delight and always takes the time to listen to my needs and progress. He remembers me and anticipates what is next in my recovery. It is extremely refreshing to have a doctor really in-tune with what is happening with my body. At Arctic Chiropractic you can tell they truly love what they do!
On staff today was the wonderful Carleigh
who is always ready to work with me. She is kind and considerate on the phone and always helps me schedule an appointment at a time most convenient for me.
Arctic Chiropractic offers a full range of services including Spinal & Postural Screenings, Massage Therapy, Nutritional Counseling, Lifestyle Advice, Corrective Exercises, and unforgettable Chiropractic Care!
Become a new patient and take advantage of their February Valentines Day offer: refer any new patient and after his/her first adjustment you will receive a complimentary 30 minute massage! Call them at (907) 746-7842.

Palmer Downtown Deli January 20th, 2011
There is a new deli in downtown Palmer! It’s located in the Downtown Palmer Plaza, in the same building as Curves, the Hot Hot Chocolate Shoppe and the Shane Lamb Art Gallery. Grand opening was Monday and business traffic seems decent. Hours are 7AM to 7PM. Breakfast options range from granola with milk to cinnamon rolls and bagels. For lunch you will find salads, sandwiches, wraps, gourmet pizzas and soups. Other menu delights include espresso beverages, gelato, smoothies and baked desserts. You will also find simple sandwiches for the kiddos that come with chips or fruit. Amber’s lunch choice was the Turkey Panini and the bread was the perfect Panini consistency: crispy outside and chewy inside! Tamara ordered a Chicken Salad sandwich which came with a nice side salad made mostly of spinach greens. Amber met the owners as they happened to be here most of the day. They are a very pleasant, down-to-earth couple and it was great to meet them. The rest of the staff is also very cheerful and well-deserving of good tips! All photos by Amber Grissom

The open room leaves plenty of space to bring a computer and work all day. With 16 tables and around 50 seats you wont feel crowded here. The menu is wide and offers healthy and fresh options for breakfast, lunch, dinner and in-between! There is also free wi-fi; ask the staff for the password.

Amber spent the morning here and Tamara stayed an entire afternoon to get a feel for the atmosphere, food and to work on our laptops. Amber reports that the coffee is delicious and not burnt! Yes, she’s a bit of a coffee snob. There is free lemon water available all day to drink and the staff was very cheerful!
The chicken salad was a delectable combination of chicken, cheddar cheese, onion, jalapeño, bacon and sour cream sauce. It was enveloped with lettuce and two thick slices of fresh bread. Yum!

Christmas Events December 11th, 2010
Here are some other events going on between now and Christmas. Know of more? Post a comment and I’ll add them!
All of these photos were taken in Vagabonds. Not only is Vagabond Blues a great place to get coffee or a meal, it’s also a good place to find out what’s going on in town!
Active Soles in Palmer’s Koslosky Building December 4th, 2010

Active Soles
It’s called Active Soles for a reason, the owners specialize in gait analysis, computerized foot function analysis, and foot orthotics. Don’t know what that is? Neither do I…all I know is that they have fantastic customer service.
I don’t know any other shoe store that allows you to try a shoe out for 30 days to see if it will work for you with a guaranteed return policy if it doesn’t fit right.
I’m not much of a shoe person, but I found some great Keen shoes that fit my feet well and are comfortable. So I just keep going back for more of the same shoe… As I said, I’m no Imelda Marcos with a closet full of shoes. But I am a fan of this store.
I’m starting to get a good collection of different colors of the same shoe.
Check it out…here is their website. Active Soles
